Three-Day Website

My specialty is working with sensitive and/or neurodivergent women who are holistic, heart-centered service-based professionals. This includes midwives, doulas, lactation consultants, childbirth educators, massage therapists, mental health therapists, naturopathic doctors, integrative practitioners, and others. My goal for your site is simplicity and a strategic design. In order to complete an entire, functioning website in a streamlined way, I offer a signature process that includes design for 5 specific pages: a homepage, an about page, a services page (that's either a list of services you offer or a short-form sales page for a single offering), a contact page, and one extra page. These are the core pages that you need in order to attract clients and book them through the online Scheduling calendar. Additional pages are available at a rate of $500 per page, and we will discuss the time for this add-on to the project.

My goal is to help you spend less time troubleshooting your website and more time working with your clients. While other platforms create great websites, the maintenance of those websites is often a headache for non-designer entrepreneurs. I want you to be 100% confident that you can maintain your website and use it as stress-free as possible! Squarespace is the perfect blend of creative flexibility, while also being easy to manage and grow. If you want a pretty, easy-to-use website platform to present your service-based offerings, Squarespace is the place for you. If Squarespace isn't the right platform for you, I can refer you to other designers who specialize in other platforms.

I use a unique process that I’ve refined over the decade I’ve been doing this. As you’re filling out questionnaires, you are prompted to answer questions that get to the heart of what you do, who you do it for, and who you are. I then take your answers and, using copywriting best practices, create website copy. We then collaboratively edit the copy together as we edit the website. This process works well for my clients, as it’s visual and they see exactly what the words look like on the site visually, not just words on a document disconnected from the overall design. We’ll make sure your words represent you and your work, and I’ll show you how to edit them so you can update as needed over time.

I have created a streamlined process for you to follow that can help us ensure that everything should be smooth during our three days together. That said, things happen - tech glitches, internet outages, life issues. If these do happen, we'll work around them. Also, for the 3 days to be a success, I'll need your full participation and quick feedback responses. You'll need to have every piece of the website (branding, website copy, photography, etc.) 100% ready 72 hours before our day together. If there are any hiccups with those pieces, it will delay the process. That said, you can always hire me for an additional half or full day to finish things up later.

The short answer to this is no, I don’t do redesigns directly on your existing website. The longer answer is that redesigns are never really that. When you get new branding, change your services, get new photos, etc., the entire site evolves into something new. Most of the time it’s as much work (and often much more) to redesign a website. My creative flow works best when I create a brand new site from scratch, and so if you need a fresh design we will start with a brand new site.

When you book your design spot, you’ll be required to pay a 50% deposit to hold your place. The remaining 50% is due on the last day of our design intensive (the 3rd day). In order to fully launch your website, you'll need to create a Squarespace account and pay the annual fee and domain setup fee (if needed). You can see Squarespace's current hosting prices here (just remember you get 20% off your first payment when you work with me!). If we set up the Scheduling calendar app for you, you’ll also need to pay for the subscription to make booking go live for your site. Flodesk and Squarespace Campaigns incur separate fees as well.

As I am a solopreneur myself, my business' sustainability relies on my calendar being full to a certain level. I don't offer refunds for websites once you've booked me, signed the contract, and paid me or put down the 50% deposit. Make sure that you're ready for the business intensive process once you sign up and I will bring my best skills. Together, we'll make that website and business strategy a reality!

AI has a lot of uses in business. It’s great at data, search, SEO support, offering feedback (to an extent), and helping to organize ideas. I do not use AI to write your copy, as I want it to be original to you and in your voice. Please don’t use AI to answer the questionnaires either. AI’s writing abilities tend to fall short of converting copywriting often, and those who pattern scan well immediately recognize AI’s writing style. This increases distrust in your brand. I also heavily discourage using AI for logos, social media posts, flyers, etc. Canva is an excellent non-designer platform where you can easily create simple assets for your business, and I highly recommend that business owners who want to stand out online continue to build on these platforms over AI.
